Intercom Systems
Browse the intercom systems and parts that Douglas Security System installs and repairs across NYC and Long Island. This category includes video intercom entrance panels, tenant stations, complete kits, and replacement parts from Comelit, Aiphone, and DNAKE.
Apartment and Building Intercom Systems
For multi-family buildings, we install complete video intercom systems like the Comelit Ultra Touch and the Aiphone GT Series. Tenants can see and talk to visitors, open the door from their apartment or phone, and use PIN codes or key fobs. In many buildings, our Comelit video intercom works alongside your existing intercom units, so you can upgrade to video without new wiring.
Entrance Panels and Tenant Stations
If only part of your system needs replacing, we can install a new entrance panel, like the Aiphone GT-DMB-N or GTV-DES202B, or new tenant stations, like the Aiphone GT-1C7 and handset-style apartment stations. That keeps the rest of your system in place and saves money.
Intercom Repair Parts
We carry common repair parts, such as the PK-543A 5-4-3 wire intercom amplifier, so many repairs on older buildings are done in one visit. Most single intercom repairs in NYC cost about $250 to $600, depending on what failed. These are average NYC prices, and we give you a free quote after we inspect the system.
Which Intercom Is Right for Your Building?
A private house needs a simple video door station. A walk-up with old wiring may be best served by a Comelit upgrade that reuses existing units. A large apartment complex usually needs a multi-tenant system with a name directory, like the Aiphone GT Series. We walk the property with you and recommend a system that fits the building and your budget.
Access Control With Your Intercom
Many buildings add keypads or key fob readers, like the Aiphone AC-10S, at the same time as a new intercom. Tenants and staff use a code or fob, while visitors call from the entrance panel.

Audio, Video, or App-Based: Which Type Do You Need?
Audio intercoms are the simplest and most affordable, and they meet the basic need of talking to visitors and opening the door. Video intercoms add a camera so residents can see who’s there before letting them in. App-based systems let residents answer from anywhere, which helps with deliveries and guests when no one is home. Most NYC buildings that upgrade today choose video with phone access, often while keeping the existing apartment units.
Upgrading Without Rewiring the Building
Running new wire to every apartment is one of the biggest costs of a new intercom. In many buildings, you can avoid it. A new video entrance panel can often work with the existing wiring and apartment units, so residents get video and phone access without opening walls. We test the wiring first to confirm it’s in good enough shape. Read more about our audio-to-video upgrade.
Intercoms for Houses and Two-Family Homes
For houses, a video door station with an indoor monitor and app access replaces the old doorbell or buzzer. Two-family homes get a separate button, monitor, and door release for each unit. A durable station like the Aiphone JP-DV is a common choice. We can also add a gate station and remote release for homes with a front gate.
Cloud and App-Based Intercoms
App-based intercoms let residents answer the door and open it from their phones, and cloud-managed systems let property managers update the directory and access from a computer. They’re a good fit for buildings with frequent move-ins, several entrances, or managers who oversee more than one property. Some cloud systems charge ongoing fees for software and app access, so compare the total cost over five and ten years. Our Comelit systems are no monthly fee intercom systems, and the DNAKE S617 adds cloud management for buildings that want it.
Telephone Entry Systems
A telephone entry system calls a resident’s phone from the lobby panel instead of an apartment station. Visitors find the resident in the directory, the system dials their phone, and the resident presses a key to open the door. These systems are common in NYC lobbies because they don’t need wire to every apartment. Many modern video panels offer the same phone calling plus video and app access.
Package Deliveries and Courier Access
Deliveries are one of the biggest reasons buildings upgrade their intercoms. Temporary delivery codes let couriers in once without sharing a permanent code, phone access lets residents open the door for a courier from work, and a camera over the entrance or package area gives you a record of every delivery. Pair your intercom with security cameras for the best protection.
Virtual Doorman and Front Desk Options
Some buildings pair their intercom with a front desk or concierge station, and others use outside virtual doorman services that answer visitor calls remotely. Multi-tenant systems like the Aiphone GT Series support guard and concierge stations. If you use or are considering a virtual doorman service, ask how it connects to your entrance panel and door release before choosing equipment.

Intercom Systems FAQs
Which intercom system is right for my building?
It depends on the number of apartments and entrances, your wiring, and whether tenants want phone access. Co-ops and condos often choose the Comelit Ultra Touch, and large multi-tenant buildings often choose the Aiphone GT Series. We recommend a system after a free site survey.
Do you install the intercom systems you sell?
Yes. Every system is installed, programmed, and tested by DSS technicians. See our video intercom installation service for how the process works.
Can a new intercom work with my existing wiring?
In many buildings, yes. Our Comelit video intercom works alongside existing intercom units, so you can add video and phone access without rewiring the whole building. Read about our audio-to-video upgrade.
Do your intercom systems have a monthly fee?
Not our Comelit systems. They’re a one-time investment with no monthly payment. Learn more about our no monthly fee intercom systems.
What’s the difference between the Comelit Ultra Touch and the Aiphone GT Series?
The Comelit Ultra Touch is a touch screen entrance panel with app access that often works alongside existing apartment units. The Aiphone GT Series is a modular multi-tenant system with video tenant stations and support for guard or concierge stations.
Can tenants answer the door from their phones?
Yes, with an app-enabled system. The Comelit Ultra Touch includes 15 app licenses, so tenants can see visitors, talk to them, and open the door from their phones.
Do you carry replacement parts for older intercoms?
Yes. We carry parts like the 8870.1 apartment station and the PK-543A amplifier for older 5-, 4-, and 3-wire audio systems, and we install them as part of a repair.
Why don’t the products show prices?
The final price depends on your building, the number of units and entrances, and the installation work. Call (212) 262-2820 or use our contact form, and we’ll give you a free quote.
Which areas do you serve?
We install and repair intercoms in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Long Island. Our office is at 1541 E 46th Street in Brooklyn.
