Intercom repair: We repair existing intercoms and replace entry panels and apartment units. We also fix dead buzzers, door releases, and wiring problems. Under the NYC Housing Maintenance Code, buildings with eight or more apartments built or converted after 1968 must keep a working intercom. It needs two-way voice and door release. Because of that, we treat these calls as urgent (see our NYC intercom requirements guide).
Intercom installation and upgrades: We upgrade buildings to brand-new video intercom systems, both Wi-Fi and hardwired. They also come with smartphone apps, PIN code entry, key fob access, and temporary codes for guests and deliveries.

A building with a managing agent who wants a record of who called which apartment, or who wants to update the tenant directory remotely, is the usual buyer. The intercom itself works without them after installation.
Yes. With the Comelit app, tenants see visitors in HD video, talk to them, and open the door from anywhere. We can also set up temporary access codes for guests and deliveries. A temporary code is useful for a dog walker, a contractor, or a one-time delivery, because you can hand it out without sharing a key. The phone only needs a data or Wi-Fi connection to ring.
Yes, for many buildings. Buildings with eight or more apartments built or converted after January 1, 1968, must have a working intercom with two-way voice and door release. We repair and replace intercom systems to keep buildings compliant. This comes from the Multiple Dwelling Law, and it also expects self-closing, self-locking entrance doors. If an intercom is broken, tenants can report it through 311, which can lead to an HPD violation.
